As many may have noticed, Square-Enix has announced a sequel to their latest Final Fantasy flagship, Final Fantasy XIII.

Ign recently had some time to sit down with Director Motomu Toriyama about the sequel, inquiring what are some of the things we can expect from this sequel.

How do you feel about XIII-2's current progress?

Honestly, I'm completely indifferent by it, and somewhat confused as to why they'd decide to put the resources into it. FF13 had mixed reviews, and it didn't sound worthy of a sequel. Personally, I would think they'd spend most of their effort on VS 13, considering how long that one has been a work in progress.

But that's something that should of been included in the first place. Personally, 4's comparison to X-2 seems to be a good one. FF sequals have a tendency to be very underwhelming. I guess the exception to that would be FFVII: Crisis Core, but that was a prequel. I'm not going to hold my breath on this one though.
